Jerry Aldous was kind enough to send us these photos of his 1933 Dodge Five Window Coupe. Jerry has lived in Pocatello, Idaho for all his life and that’s a while considering he said he will be celebrating his 60th birthday here in about a week. He also said he will be retiring from Union Pacific Railroad at the end of September, 2008.
From the look of these photos the railroad will be sure to miss any employee who does such high quality work but hopefully their loss will be the Hot Rod communities gain because Jerry is about to have some extra time he can put into Hot Rodding!!
Jerry says he has had an interest in cars all his life and he is also an artist. Many of you may have seen his work on the cover of Mountain West Street News over the years or in the custom paint on the side of a car. At the moment he has three collectible cars, the ’33 Dodge you see here, a ’40 Ford Coupe and a ’54 Chevy two door post which he has owned since he was in high school!! (Which we would love to see!)
The ’33 pictured here is Dodge head-to-toe, it runs a 318, automatic transmission and rear end that were borrowed from a Plymouth. Jerry found the car in a field in Aberdean, Idaho in 1983. After he purchased the car it received its current paint job (done by Jerry) in 1984. The car boasts an all steel body and Jerry made all of the aluminum parts you see on the car.
The front suspension is a 5 ½ inch dropped axle and the top was chopped 5 ½ inches in the 60’s and it was healiarc welded back together, something that was unheard of at that time. The car also features rack and pinion steering, front disk and rear drum brakes.
We would like to thank Jerry for sending us both the great photos and the story you see here!
