The Cache Valley Cruisin Association has done it again! The 2009 Cruise In was just fantastic! The poker run took us through some of the most beautiful land in the country. I know the view from stop four at the overlook was simply breath taking. We think we got some good photos of all the cars that made the journey up to the overlook and thanks to the cool weather I didn’t see a single car overheat at the top!
After the poker run, folks from all over settled in to the fairgrounds as we walked about we were amazed at the number of different license plates we saw. One group of young cruisers even told us they drove 22 hours from Wisconsin just to attend the show. There was also great food at the fair grounds and great vendors like Stewart Soda Blasting and Trixie Roth with all your Rat Fink Gear!
Thursday Night was the Three Dog Night Concert and they sounded fantastic. Listening to all their hits was a stroll down memory lane, reminded me of when my father’s ’69 Camaro was my mother’s daily driver.
By Friday morning most of the cars were on display so Courtney and I took a moment to wander through the show without our cameras and really just enjoy all the beautiful classics. J.C. Hackett hosted a great sock hop on Friday evening and young and old came out and got into the groove. After the sock hop there was a great fireworks display down at the stadium.
Saturday brought all the rest of the cars and we stayed good and busy. Photographing a show the size of Cache Valley is no small undertaking and we only had until 4 pm to get it done then we had to run down to the awards ceremony. Our award went to a powder pink ’59 Caddie, we just love those big fins.
After all the awards were handed out it was the moment everyone in that gigantic crowd was waiting for. It was time to give away this year’s car. Most of you have probably seen the car at events throughout the season but if you haven’t it was a sharp looking little ’37 Ford Coupe. Speaking of sharp looking, they asked our good friend Jade from Innocent Era Pinups to pull this year’s winning ticket and she did over and over again! It took four tickets before a winner came forward to claim the car. You wouldn’t think it would be that difficult to give away such a good looking street rod!
As soon as the car was given away everyone headed up to the Main Street cruise. They had a great turn out and we think we got some really nice photos on the cruise, we hope you like them.
Lastly Courtney and I would like to extend a giant thank you to the entire Cache Valley Cruise In Staff and to everyone who came out and made the event such a smashing success! See you all in Logan in 2010!
