Today hot-rodding is all about the car show, and there are lots and lots of them anytime the weather will permit it 100 or more cars congregate on the grass at some park. (See our Upcoming Events page for a listing of shows along the Wasatch Front.) There was however, you old guys remember it, a time when rodding was really all about racing. This was a time when a couple of guys with regular jobs could pool a few dollars and build themselves a race car. This is the era of the front engine dragster and altered classes. This is time before trailers full of spare engines and sponsors who are more interested in getting “TV time” than how their team faired.
Even if the cars were not as fast or as safe as they are today, this may have been the golden age of racing because it was a time when almost anyone with the yearning to go fast could build and race their own car.
Follow any of the links to the right of the Christmas tree for a look backward at drag racing. Hope you enjoy and remember, if you have drag photos from this era or know more about these these photos email us at:

Many of you have collections that are not from a specific race but rather from being around racing for years. We would love to share your collection of race photos with the world!! If you have vintage race photos you would like to share email us at
